Our disposable eco plates are hopping on a food tour!
These biodegradable plates will stand to the test of the best food in Penang. Oily, gravy or right off the wok, these are some of the must-try dishes in the island.
On a side note, we are hiding our weighing machine for some time.
A Hearty Pasembur On Our Eco Plates
Fried cubes of potatoes, beancurd, prawn fritters, eggs, cucumber and turnip sit below a generous serving of sauce.
Pasembur is definitely a sharing platter. It took use approximately 20 minutes to finish the dish. The disposable plate remains sturdy and not a single leak.

The Sizzling Char Koay Teow
No visit to Penang is complete without trying Char Koay Teow. These noodles are fried upon order and are commonly on the greasy side. Our order was spicy, oily and generously filled with fish balls, crab sticks and prawns.
Despite the noodles served hot, it was very comfortable to hold due to the sturdiness of the plate.
Well, these eco plates are made from rice straw, so not a surprise.
Penang Char Hor Fun
This dish may differ from state to state. In the food capital of Malaysia, it consists of noodles topped with a clear gravy. The variety of textures and flavours seem to impress. Delicious but we are more of a fried noodles fan!
Indian Banana Leaf Meal Shared On Eco Plates
Penang Little India is a haven for spicy and savoury food lovers.
We got a set of Indian Banana Leaf set and split between the two of us. The flavours and colours complimented each other so well. Each dish has a gravy-like texture and we were generous with the curry too.
As always, the eco plates stood to the test.

These biodegradable plates are sturdy and eco friendly. As per the dishes above, these thick plates fit saucy, oily and heavy dishes. Let’s go green together as plastics are causing ample harm to the ocean.
As a move forward, the Penang Government has also imposed a ban on plastic bags.
Likewise, our biodegradable lunch box is suitable for local dishes such as fried rice, nasi kandar and briyani. Just add on a wooden spoon and fork. If you are opting for takeaway, get these eco friendly disposable food boxes.
