Food delivery services are on the rise. As much as we miss our regular cafe hopping with friends and family, the convenience and variety of food delivery have more than made up for the absence of gatherings. We personally loved these food boxes, and so could you.
Amma on Budget
Staying true to the name, the food is cooked by mothers and prices are wallet-friendly. But that does not mean creativity is overlooked. Expect Indian cuisine with contemporary twists! Think dishes like Mint Prawns, Orange Chilli Chicken, Mango Rice with Spicy Peanut Sauce Glazed Chicken and more. The menu rotates every week, so your taste buds are constantly cherished.
Xi Meng Ding
Anyone a fan of Taiwanese food? Maybe a better question would be who isn’t a fan of a takeaway box filled with Taiwanese-styled fish fillets, fried rice, stir-fried greens and a handful of fries? And that is just one of the many dishes offered at this Taiwanese restaurant. From ramens to dumplings, desserts, and everything in between, be spoilt with choices.
Tucked in the heart of Georgetown, this sprawling cafe is everyone’s go-to spot for cakes. Slices are big on portions and bigger on flavours. Our favourites are Tiramisu, Espresso Walnut, Walnut Carrot Cake and Chocolate Brownies. For a nod towards perfection, get a cup of latte too.
Mexican food is known to be addictive, with its fun interplay of colours and flavours. So, we opted for Holy Guacamole’s Pumpkin Taco and had no regrets. The bite-sized spice-roasted pumpkins, corn salsa and chipotle mayo over a corn tortilla were rave-worthy. Next on our list are burritos and quesadillas!
Krung Thep Thai Restaurant
Thai food leans heavily on a symphony of flavours and textures – sweet, sour, spicy, tangy, crunchy and more. We certainly experienced it upon trying out Krung Thep’s Seafood Pad Thai. There was so much going on in every mouthful, as it should be, and the juicy prawns sealed the deal.
Dhanesh Briyani King
With a name like that, you know this food delivery service isn’t messing around with briyani. But that doesn’t mean you should miss the rest of the menu. We tried their ayam masak merah with nasi hujan panas, vegetarian set lunch with cauliflower 65 and spicy fish masala. Top-notch flavours and the takeaway food boxes were filled to the brim.
Bee Hwa Cafe
For many years, Bee Hwa Cafe has been a familiar name in the Char Koey Teow scene so it’s only right that it continues its wave of popularity through food delivery as well. Both the CKT and fried rice were delicious, with a handful of fish cakes, prawns and crabsticks and the right level of heat.
