The more the merrier is for food. The less the merrier is for plastic packaging. Watch how our disposable bowls, cups and cutlery make the most of this food event.
Under the stewardship of Majlis Bandaraya Pulau Pinang (MBPP), Hari Penjaja 2023 took place pleasantly at the doorway of Penang City Hall. This event saw a diverse blend of local food, vouching for Penang’s fame as a food paradise. Both locals and tourists were having a great time satiating their hunger in the bustling scene. In efforts to reduce plastic, the stalls were encouraged to use alternatives to serve and pack the food and beverage.
Disposable Bowls and Wooden Cutlery Top the Chart
Gladly, many vendors were happy to use our disposable food packaging for their stalls. Among the top picks were wooden disposable spoon and fork, paper straws, paper cups, paper bowls and paper bags. This efficient approach spreads the Go Green message to the public. Some of them were keen about the wooden spoon, particularly its natural finish that gives an upscale look. The strong structure of the spoon makes it ideal to be served with hot dishes too. It marks the end of flimsy plastic spoons.

It’s still a work in progress. We are gradually reducing plastic in many events and functions. From bio lunch boxes for St Anne’s Feast to eco plates for UTP’s Hari Raya and more. Many are happy with the eco-conscious step they are taking to reduce plastic, particularly with our bio lunch boxes and plates. Nevertheless, the concern on extra cost serves as a hiccup. We commonly advise new buyers to think of the bigger picture. A report from WWF reveals that Malaysia is among the biggest consumers of plastic packaging in Asia. Read more here. With proper explanation, consumers will be glad to know that the extra pennies are going for containers that are less plastic or completely plastic-free.
Convenience of Paper Bowls Instead of Plastic
Our disposable plates are commonly appreciated for their ease to grip, serve and dining comfort. You don’t have the fear for spillage even carrying with a single hand. Same goes to our disposable paper bowls, which are ideal for fruits and dessert too. Most importantly, the ease to carry the bowl with hot food.
Overall, Hari Penjaja 2023 delivered on a high note on the palates and minds of people. It was visually impressive to see paper disposable bowls, paper bags and wooden cutlery be in place of plastic. We look forward to supply more events that feature disposable food packaging.
